Ou Huang

Coach Ou Huang brings decades of volleyball experience as both a high-level player and accomplished coach. Since beginning her club coaching career in 2016, she has served as a Head Coach at every age group from 12U through 18U, developing competitive teams and helping athletes achieve success on the court and at the collegiate level.

She joined MDJRS in 2025 and served as the Head Coach of the MDJRS 14 Black Boys team during her first season with the club. Prior to joining MDJRS, she spent nine successful seasons with MVP volleyball club, where she led teams across every age division.

Throughout her coaching career, she has built a strong record of team success and player development. Her teams have won CHRVA Regional Championships at the 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U, and 16U age levels. She led the MVP 14U Boys team to the 2021 East Coast Championship in the
14 Open Gold Division and coached teams that qualified for the USAV Boys Junior National Championship Open Division in 2021, 2022, and 2023, as well as earning a bid to the AAU Boys National Championship 18 Open Division in 2025. Her 16U Boys team finished in the Top 25 at the AAU Boys National Championship Open Division.

As Head Coach of MVP 18 Black, she helped six student-athletes earn NCAA college commitments, including three NCAA Division II and three NCAA Division III commitments.

In recognition of her dedication to the volleyball community, she was selected as a recipient of the 2022 AVCA Diversity Award.

A highly accomplished player, Coach Ou began her volleyball journey at the age of 12, receiving professional training at the prestigious Beijing ShiChaHai Sports School in China. Her experience there provided her with a strong technical foundation and prepared her for a successful competitive playing career.

She was a member of the Beijing Youth Women’s Volleyball Team, the Chinese National Hope Team, and the Chinese National Youth Training Team. She also represented the Beijing Youth Volleyball Team on three international visits to Japan.

She continued her playing career at the University of Dayton, where she competed in NCAA Division I volleyball from 1996 to 1998 as a three-year starting middle blocker. She helped lead the Flyers to the 1998 Atlantic 10 Championship and earned numerous individual honors, including:

• Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year (1996)
• Iowa State Cyclone Invitational All-Tournament Team (1996)
• Flyer First Serve Invitational All-Tournament Team (1996)
• Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team (1996–1998)
• Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team (1996–1998)
• Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference (1997)

Coach Ou believes that coaching is about more than teaching the game of volleyball. Her philosophy is to help athletes develop both as players and as people by building strong fundamentals, discipline, confidence, leadership, teamwork, and character. She is committed to
creating an environment where athletes learn valuable life lessons through volleyball and grow into better teammates, leaders, and individuals both on and off the court.
